Got to go home and have some fun with my super talented photographer brother Davy Mellado. Just some pics of fun in my favorite gingham shirt and my green cafe capris. Shirt is great on it’s own, under a sweater, another shirt, paired with a statement necklace, you name it. Colors don’t matter. Mix n match and it’ll be even more brilliant. I’m thankful for color.

Shirt is tighter on broad shoulders, then drapes down for comfort and great fit.
Not usually a fan of skinny jeans, but these fit perfectly in boots and create a great waist with the taller cut!
Boots are my go-to for casual wear that looks great, but requires minimal thought. So good.
Also. Go visit Nashville. And tell me you don’t fall in love.

I am an athlete writing and sharing clothes for athletically shaped bodies. I celebrate the beauty in the differences of our unique sizes, redefining the dressing room and strongly believe in the power of motivation and support. Media has hurt and distorted our perception of “sexy” — forcing us to fit ourselves into certain looks or trends, instead of reveling in the truth that being “sexy” is more than a look. I want to create a new reality of hope and beauty, offering a “grey” in a world that seems to see black and white in the world of fashion. I want to create a place for like-minded athletes to share what they have found at stores, establishing a community of girls just wanting to have fun feeling like… well, girls. Girls with strength. And confidence. And love. And motivation. And beauty.
This is my invitation to share with me what makes you feel strong. What makes you feel beautiful. What makes your story yours.
The following pictures are of my past college athletic days when I begged my strength coach to “elongate” my muscles… my code word for “make them skinnier.” It wasn’t until I was able to accept my uncanny muscle composition that I learned how to love. I needed to learn how to love myself before I could truly love others. Yeah, I have my “fat days” and don’t go to the gym as much as I’d like, but this blog keeps me honest–it makes me realize that my strong moments in life come from exercising my athletic-ness. It’s who we are, and we can’t ignore it.
Hear us roar.

I’ve fallen in love with this denim shirt I got from Nordstrom Rack… So many ways to wear it! (It also feels like silk pajamas, and who wouldn’t like to go to work in silk pajamas?!) I’ll be spreading out the posts of the different outfits over the course of the next three days. If we can find three outfits with one shirt… makes me think more about recycling more of my summer wardrobe.. hmm…
Because I know he’s the most distracting item of the post, the dog in my lap is the newest addition to the Vivada team. His name is Wilco and just has the cutest pitter patter I’ve ever heard… I’m a firm believer that if everyone in the world had a cute dog in their life, wars would cease to happen and everyone would love everything. Just my .02…
The pants, as I mentioned in my first post, are my forever-favorite Cafe Capris in black. Just can’t stay away from them! Along with the capris are my patent nude Tory Burch deliciousness of flats. I wear these almost everyday to work (which will change when the Chicago winter hits) and love that they have a layer of cushion that many flats lack, so your feet don’t completely break after a day’s wear.
One of the best ways to add spice to your outfit is to add a pop of color under a neutral item, just as I did with the paisley under the denim. The jacket might be my favorite “color pop” for the colder months–it took me a while to convince myself to buy the red, but have zero regrets.
Challenge to you: Make the next thing you buy be a color you would never otherwise have purchased. See what that does to your overall enjoyment of life and clothes!
And Warby Parker. If you haven’t checked them out, do it now. ca.warbyparker.com… great business model, yummy frames and my new company obsession. I love my frames and think everyone should go buy a pair!

Here’s to first posts, fun beginnings and current wardrobe favorites–classics that I use as a starting canvas for any day.
Have any items in your closet that you wear a tad more frequently than others just because you love them that much more? Yeah… that’s JCrew’s Retro-Dot tunic for me. I love how I can pair it so easily with so many outfits, tightening the belt if I want a bit more waist definition. It adds just the right amount of fun to the timeless navy and white color combo–AWESOME for layering in the colder months. The nude wedges shown here are my secret to elongating legs, receiving compliments and adding some extra height without the fear of twisting an ankle. My favorite pairing with the wedges are JCrew’s ever amazing Cafe Capris. I have three pairs of these pants, (which I am certain will show themselves in other blog posts) and find ways to wear them multiple times a week. Not only are they MASSIVELY COMFORTABLE, but they are tight/fitted/loose in all the right places. These capris are best friends with my flip flops, high heels, booties, flats, you name it. They are my go-to pant for all occasions and I revel in the fact that I can share my love of these spectacular pieces of cloth.
Fun Fact: I got to meet and hang out with Wilco’s Pat Sansone earlier this year wearing this polka-dot amazingness under a sweater. He complimented the tunic and proceeded to invite me to sit with his friends. Pat Sansone approved, ladies and gents.

I bought these pants uncertain if I could pull them off, but I quickly fell in love with their beautiful figure and flattering silhouette. They show off curves, create lines where you want them and are known to encourage dancing. Pair these with a flowy top tucked in for the perfect classic ensemble. I’m wearing a pair of platform heels here (not my norm), but they complete the look and give me the extra deceiving height. Yay for making short legs look endless!

This is where we athletes get to dish about clothes. What fits where, what fits no where, what stores we love, what stores we avoid. My pictures are me. In my own body. Wearing normal clothes. I will tell you what I know, where I shop, and what I love about specific stores. This is for you, athletic girls with non-mediatized beautiful bodies. Let’s do this.
